Every match starts with photos blurred. You see the person's compatibility score, two standout Big Five personality traits, and a one-sentence "why you'd click" reason that's generated specifically for the two of you.
If you both Connect, you start a conversation. As the conversation deepens — substance, balance, time across days — the app's engagement index quietly climbs. When it reaches the Ready tier, both of you are invited to cast a private reveal vote. When you both vote yes, the photos unblur — simultaneously, for both sides.
That's it. No swiping on faces. No infinite feeds. Conversation is the entry point. The photo is the reward.
Your match percentage combines two things: personality compatibility and shared values.
Personality compares your Big Five trait scores (Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism) with a potential match's. Research consistently shows certain trait combinations work better long-term — we use that to inform compatibility, and we weight Conscientiousness and Agreeableness more heavily because they're the strongest predictors of relationship satisfaction.
Values looks at whether you align on the things that actually matter over time: whether you want children, how you approach money, your appetite for growth, and the role of religion or spirituality in your life.
If both pieces fit, the match score is high. If your values clash on a hard topic — for example, one of you definitely wants kids and the other definitely doesn't — the score drops to zero. We'd rather not waste your time.
The engagement index is a private number that measures how much real connection your conversation is building. You'll never see the number itself — you'll see a named vibe tier instead (Just Met → Getting Curious → Clicking → Something Here → Almost There → Ready).
Substantive messages, balanced back-and-forth, asking real questions, and staying engaged over multiple days all push the index up. One-word replies and ghost-and-come-back patterns don't. It's designed to reward the kind of interaction that actually builds a connection — not the kind that games a number.
When your conversation reaches the Ready vibe tier, a small card appears at the top of the chat: "The vibe is there. Ready to put a face to the words?" Each person votes privately — yes or not yet.
If only one person votes yes, nothing happens. No pressure on the other person. No awkwardness. When you both vote yes, the photos unblur — at the same moment, for both of you — and the tier locks to Connected for good.
If you've cast your reveal vote and they haven't yet, you'll see a quiet line that says "You're ready — waiting for the other side." No one is told you're waiting except you. The conversation continues exactly as it was.
If a week passes with no second vote, your vote quietly resets. The reveal card can re-appear later if the vibe stays strong. No notifications, no nudging, no awkwardness.
Blind Dating uses access passes — not subscriptions. You buy a one-time 30-Day Pass for $6.99 or a 6-Month Pass for $29.99 through the App Store. The pass gives you full access to matching, conversations, and reveals for its full duration.
When the pass ends, it just ends. You won't be auto-charged. If you want to keep using the app, you buy another pass.
There's nothing to cancel. Because our passes don't auto-renew, there's no subscription to manage and no recurring charge waiting in the background.
Your pass expires when it expires, and you decide whether to buy another. You can manage any in-app purchases through your App Store account settings as usual.
Yes — when you finish onboarding, your account starts with a 3-day free trial. Full access, no charge, no card on file. Once it ends, you can buy a pass or just let the account sit dormant — your matches and conversations don't go anywhere.
Go to Settings → Delete account in the app. Tap, confirm, and your account is permanently removed — profile, photos, messages, personality data, match history, everything. The action is irreversible.
If you have an active pass when you delete, the remaining time isn't refunded — see Apple's refund policy if you need to chase that.
No. Other users only ever see your city name. Your exact coordinates are used internally to find matches near you, but the precise data never leaves our servers.
Yes. Tap the ⋯ menu on any conversation or profile — block and report are right there. Blocking removes the person from your matches and prevents further contact. Reporting sends the case to our moderation team for review.
We take reports seriously. If you're experiencing harassment or feel unsafe, please report it and reach out to support@blinddating.app directly. We'll respond within a business day.
No one. Your photos are stored on our servers as the original, but every other user sees them blurred until both of you cast the reveal vote. Pre-reveal, the photo never crosses the network in its unblurred form.
